Article one for Mormon Insights Magazine
I was asked to edit an article before it was submitted to Mormon Insights, an online magazine at mormoninsights.byu.edu. The magazine is written to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is intended to be informative and inspirational. The articles give teasers to publications by the Church and its affiliates. I was asked to do a substantive edit and copy edit on the article. This article was deeply personal for the author, so it was important to maintain her voice while preparing the article for publication.
Article two for Mormon Insights Magazine
This is another article I was asked to edit for submission to Mormon Insights. I was again asked to perform a substantive edit and a copy edit. This article focuses on how Church members can use social media to share religious messages. With this article, it was important to maintain a tone that would appeal to a young audience. It was also important to be technically accurate about the social media.
Reflections on Editing
I was asked to perform a substantive edit and a copy edit on this paper. It was written to students at Brigham Young University to convince them that the editing minor could be useful to them in any field. The author began the paper with engaging stories that did not have an obvious connection to the paper prompt. Thus, some of the most important editing on this paper was to suggest unifying the grabby stories with the topic of the rest of the paper.
